Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The African Union (AU) has announced a call for papers for the 2025 edition of its annual publication, AU ECHO. This year’s theme is “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations.”
The AU ECHO 2025 seeks insightful, evidence-based articles that explore the progress and potential of implementing AU decisions related to reparations for enslavement and colonization. The publication welcomes contributions that examine initiatives at institutional, national, and continental levels aimed at addressing this critical issue. Authors are encouraged to support their arguments with references to AU decisions, declarations, and documented actions.
Who Can Contribute?
Submissions are open to a wide range of contributors, including:
- Institutions
- AU organs and employees
- Member states
- African academic institutions
- Think tanks
- Civil society organizations
- Industry experts
- The wider African public
Submission Guidelines:
- Language: Articles can be submitted in English or French.
- Word Limit: 1500 words.
- Format: Submissions should be in Word format.
- Content: Include the author’s full name, contact details, organization/job title (if applicable), and a brief article summary.
- Visuals: Pertinent photographs and illustrations are welcome, provided they are original or under a Creative Commons license.
Deadline:
The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 31st, 2025, at 17:00 East African Time (GMT+3).
