.ng Awards 2024: Celebrating Digital Excellence in Nigeria.
Lagos, Nigeria – The 7th .ng Awards, hosted by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), concluded successfully last week, recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to Nigeria’s digital landscape.
The event, themed “The Innovators of 2024,” celebrated digital innovation across various sectors, including banking, agriculture, government, and media. The awards ceremony, held at the prestigious Muson Center Onikan, was a highlight of the two-day event, which also featured the Tech Convergence 1.0 conference.
A Night of Recognition
NiRA’s .ng Awards 2024 recognized a diverse range of achievements. Key winners included:
- Company of the Year: Nibox Payment
- .ng Fintech Company of the Year: FairMoney
- Digital Innovation in State Government: Lagos State
- Digital Innovation in Federal Government: National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)
- Best E-Commerce Website/Portal: Jumia Nigeria
- Best Local Hosting Company: Galaxy Backbone.
- Best Commercial Bank Website/Portal: Sterling Bank.
- Best Primary/Secondary School Website/Portal: Kings College.
- Best Electronic Media Website (Radio): Wazobia FM.
- Best Electronic Media Website (Television): Nigeria Television Authority.
- Best Print Media Website: The Guardian.
- Best Online Media Website: Geeky Nigeria.
In addition to these category winners, several individuals and organizations received a Presidential special recognition awards for their exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s internet ecosystem. These include GO54, NITDA, Mrs. Eyitayo Iyortim, Gbenga Sesan, Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, and the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN).
Tech Convergence 1.0
The Tech Convergence 1.0 conference, held alongside the awards ceremony, provided a platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and tech enthusiasts to discuss emerging technologies, digital trends, and the future of the .ng domain.
A highlight of the conference was a fireside chat with Olatunbosun Alake, Commissioner of Innovation, Science and Technology, Lagos State. Alake emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving digital growth and highlighted Lagos State’s commitment to leveraging technology for the benefit of its citizens.
